When it comes to Switch 2 cases, I’m pretty happy with just the basics. Solid drop protection, storage, and space for a charger is all I really need, and I’d wager most people think along those same lines. When you’ve already plunked nearly $500 down for a console, you’re probably not trying to break the bank for accessories, and that mentality is one I can’t really argue with.
However, I recently got my hands on the Belkin Charging Case Pro for Switch 2, and I have to say that while I didn’t think I needed more from a Switch 2 case, this device proved me wrong in every way possible, thanks to a more thoughtful design as well as some truly handy extra features.

Keeping you charged up no matter where the day takes you
The Belkin Charging Case Pro is fairly unassuming from the outside with an incredibly hard single-color outer shell that opens up to reveal a soft, microfiber inside that conforms to your Switch 2’s dimensions exactly. Above your Switch 2’s cozy little nesting place you’ll find a microfiber screen cover, a small mesh pocket for stashing small accessories like cables or Joy-Cons, a flap with storage for 12 game cartridges, and a hidden AirTag compartment as well.
All of these features are pretty similar to the standard Belkin Switch 2 Charging Case, pictured above. However, where this new iteration stands out is with its new power bank, which not only sits flush with your device instead of awkwardly sitting inside a pocket, but also features a flip-up stand that allows you to play your Switch 2 while it is charging. In addition, the charging case features a battery indicator screen that shows you how much charge is left, and has a charge-thru USB port that allows you to charge the power bank as it sits in the case.
The 10,000mAh power bank’s capacity is just enough to charge the Switch 2’s 5,220mAh cell twice, and if you find yourself in need of power for a controller or your smartphone, the power bank features an extra USB-C output that can be used for anything else.
The Belkin Charging Case Pro for Nintendo Switch 2 is available on the Belkin website for $100.

What I liked about the Belkin Charging Case Pro
An improvement on its predecessor in every measurable way
As mentioned previously, a lot of the technical specs for the Charging Case Pro are identical to Belkin’s standard Charging Case, which is still available for $70. The battery has the exact same capacity, the storage is the same, and it is even made out of the exact same material. So what makes this worth the extra $30? Well it’s all about that improved power bank.
Firstly, because the power bank now sits flatly inside the case, the case is a bit slimmer, making it much easier to tote around than its predecessor. You can also charge it easily thanks to the USB-C port that sits right next to the battery indicator screen, which is now visible right from the front of the case. This is a heck of a lot more convenient than taking the power bank in and out of the case every time you need to charge it.
However, my favorite feature of this improved Switch 2 case is the flip-up stand, which allows you to connect your Switch 2 to the power bank and then stand it up for an easy way to play on the go while your game console is still charging. I really enjoyed being able to sit the case on a table to chair and having an instant way to play without ever having to take my console out of the safety of the Charging Case Pro’s protective shell. I didn’t think I needed this additional level of security, but now that I have it, I fear there’s no going back.
What I didn’t like about the Belkin Charging Case Pro
It’s expensive and may not be worth the upgrade if you already have a charging case
If there’s one thing that will turn people away from this charging case, it is probably the price. Just a quick look on Amazon shows that this is the most expensive Switch 2 case from a well-known brand you can currently buy, with other units, even those that include a charging element, costing between $50-$70. If I already had a charging case, I’m not sure the additional features would be enough for me to upgrade to the Charging Case Pro, even though I do like it better than any other Switch 2 case I’ve tested thus far.
Should you buy the Belkin Charging Case Pro?
If you primarily play on the go, and are looking for a new (or better) case this is a must-have
In my experience, there are two kinds of Switch 2 gamers. Console gamers, who leave their Switch plugged in 90% of the time, and only take it out of the dock sparingly, and handheld gamers, who always have their Switch in their bag and don’t know where their dock even is. If you fall into the latter category, this is a $100 investment well worth making, as this case provides not only ample protection from drops, but also the extra convenience of a power bank you can charge through the case, an LCD power level display, and a stand that makes it easy to pop up and play your game anywhere your day takes you.
This may not be the cheapest Switch 2 case you can buy, but it is probably the last one you’ll need, and at the end of the day, that makes it well worth its high price tag. If you don’t have a Switch 2 case, or even if you’re rocking with a basic one, the Belkin Charging Case Pro is easily worth its high pricetag.
